It is our mission to make the art in South Place Hotel distinctive and as far removed as possible from generic, chain hotel collections — you know what we mean? ‘Tasteful black-and-white photographs?‘ [check]; ‘muted abstracts‘ [check]; ‘cliched views of London landmarks‘ [check]. No thanks!
So we’ve been working with local artists and galleries on a series of collaborations, from limited-edition prints in the bedrooms to an interactive wall (wait and see!) to an artistic nod in the direction of the Games Whose Name Is Trademarked.
Art Installations Within the South Place Hoardings
First to see the light of day are our four miniature ‘spy worlds,’ embedded within the construction hoardings at the South Place Hotel site. Take a peek through the view finders into worlds especially created by artist Mikel Krummins and architect Sean Monro.
Promoting Talent with a Public Art Prize
Prominent within our collection will be the first winner of the South Place Hotel Art Prize, an annual award for recent MA graduates from London art schools with a £5,000 cash prize (plus £1,000 towards expenses).
